About 8 million years after Phoenix Rising ended (or maybe it just feels that way) we bring you the Potter Journal update. It’s been ages since we formally updated and presented any fresh material, so here we go.
Before watching this latest video, it’s in your best interest to watch a “Look Around You” video on youtube. It’s a phenomenal series on the BBC, which we both enjoy. We highly recommend the “Music” video as it is extremely fun and features a long-haired silly rock-star. No, not Remus Lupin. It’s his British equivalent, Jack Morgan.
We’ll assume you watched it and you may now watch the Potter Journal entry on Wizard Rock.
Most overused phrases of the night – “EVERYTHING IS FUNNY!” “Where’s my camera?” “Where’s the script?” “It’s in the kitchen.” “Crunk Juice!” “PHOENIX RISING!!!!!”
We have an excellent 2 minutes of footage where we desperately try to look dull and serious. Didn’t work to well. Perhaps we’ll upload that eventually. Only time will tell.
Why are we screaming Phoenix Rising? Only because we’re going. We registered today and booked reservations and we’re setup. New Orleans will be invaded with puppets and Wrock Race. It’s going to be great and we can’t wait.
We haven’t polished off Wrock Race yet. Sorry. The Potter Journal to do list keeps growing. If we ever get back around to that, we’re toying with the idea of selling it online. Of course we’d have to get permission from everyone we reference.
Thanks for the Wizrocklopedia People’s Choice Nomination. We’re both flattered. If you wish to vote for us, go here.
The puppets are slowly coming back. With all of the awesome concerts within the next couple weeks, we opted to make our own concert/tour diary.
Behold the wrock.
Next weekend we intend to spend two full days Potter Journaling. What project are we going to try tackling? We’ll give you a hint, look around you.
Today's update contains a bunch of random things, kinda like gumbo. Let's start off with, The Potter Journal is now signed to Cheap Rent. What does that mean? Matt loves our little puppet friends and is going to promote us. He respects that we bounce around in what we do and what we make. A lot of excellent bands are on Cheap Rent, I highly suggest giving it a listen.
Next up, why are there no puppets!? After the Prisoner of Awesome Jackie and I got a little burned out and decided to work on something that didn't involve the puppets. No worries, mates, they'll make a triumphant return eventually. Our latest project has been a "just for fun" thing. I wanted to make a wizard rock board game, so I did. I call it "Wrock Race". It's like Chutes and Ladders, maybe Candy Land, with Chance cards. The first one who gets to Hogwarts is the headliner of the biggest all day concert hogwarts has ever seen. The dark mark is an apparation point to move forward if your evil and move back if your in the Order of the Phoenix. The Order apparation points mean "non-evil" bands apparate forward and evil must move back. The chance cards include a variety of things like, "Your van gets a flat, move back two," or "Your Wizrocklopedia's band of the month. Move forward 3". It's pretty fun. I'd like to tweak the game board a bit more and Jackie is working on making a few more band tokens for the game.
Oh! Almost forgot, I made a small banner for The Potter Journal and it's here.
If you want to use it feel free. I nearly kicked myself when I realized I didn't have a banner of my own project displayed. >.< Go have fun. Link away if you so desire.
Lastly, I'm working on an editorial covering the concept of censoring music and art in Harry Potter fandom. The "no swearing, pg family friendly" deal. I love hearing different perspectives and what people have to say. If you have any thoughts leave them as a comment and I'd be more than happy to listen.
